A sink in the bathroom establishes the décor and style of a bathroom. In fact, it is focal point of any bathroom. Sink vanities come in varied sizes, shapes, styles and colors. Although it has its functional value it simply looks like an art piece in bathroom. Colored sink vanities are quite costly.

Bathroom sinks can be made up of many materials like ceramic, vitreous china, stainless steel, metals, porcelain, faux stone or culture stone, solid surface materials, acrylic and fiberglass sinks, and steel or enameled cast iron sink. Bathroom sink made up of vitreous china or porcelain finish are durable, heavy, and impervious to mildew and water. But bathroom sink of these materials can chip off with heavy objects being dropped on it. So when you have bathroom sinks made of such materials you should be very careful and not manhandle it.

Metal and stainless steel bathroom sinks are quite easy to clean and are durable. But the sinks of these materials often tend to get scratched with daily usage and show marks obtained from soap and hard water. Acrylic sinks, fiberglass, marble or culture stone can be molded to very beautiful colors, shapes and patterns. However, these sinks are less resistant to chipping off and scratches than other bathroom sinks.

Bathroom sink vanity cabinet in many ways can be mounted on countertops.

1. Surface-Mounted or Self-Rimming Sinks—the bowl of sink gets dropped to a hole. The hole however, is bit smaller than outside rim of sink creating the seal with countertop surface.

2. Rimmed Sinks—sink is dropped to a hole in countertop, rim joins countertop and sink forming the seal with metal strip.

3. Undermounted Sinks—rim is joined to the countertop bottom forming a clean look to vanity.

4. Integral Sinks—a sink and unit of countertop is made up from similar material. This style’s drawback is that the full unit needs replacement with damage of its any part. These sinks are made up of usually faux stone, stone or solid surface type material.

A bathroom sink cabinet that provides the place for sink, countertop space, faucets and storage underneath are known as vanity mounted sinks. Freestanding sink, wall hung sinks and pedestal sinks are also available. Pedestal sinks make use of very little space on the floor and can be put in corners. Their only drawback is that they do not have sufficient storage space. The wall hung sinks can be installed on various elevations.

Bathroom sinks offer the ideal place for washing, shaving, brushing teeth, shampooing and personal grooming. Sink sized differ from 33 inches diameter to 12×20 inches depending on shape. Always consider the style and size of the sink vanities carefully before purchasing it if you consider using it on regular basis.

If you are using soap on a dry window, then you really do not want it to dry as its going to make a really bad mess. So when using a squeegee, just make sure the window is really, really wet before you begin.
